Chapter 10 Shloka 28
आयुधानामहं वज्रं धेनूनामस्मि कामधुक्।
प्रजनश्चास्मि कन्दर्प: सर्पाणामस्मि वासुकि:।।२८।।
The Lord says:
Amongst weapons, I am the thunderbolt; amongst cows I am Kaamdhenu; I am Kandarpa (Kaamdeva) amongst progenitors; and I am Vaasuki amongst serpents.
A. The Lord says, “I am the thunderbolt amongst all weapons.”
1. The thunderbolt is the weapon of Indra.
2. The thunderbolt causes great destruction and injury.
3. Lightening, too, is synonymous with the thunderbolt.
4. It could be taken to mean here, that the Lord descends upon the tyrannical like a thunderbolt.
5. He is the thunderbolt that annihilates the demons.
6. He is the protective force of the thunderbolt.
B. The Lord says, “Amongst the cows, I am Kaamdhenu.”
1. Kaamdhenu is the cow of the gods.
2. She fulfils every desire of living beings.
3. She sustains and nourishes the bodies of mortals.
4. She strengthens their minds.
5. She enhances the growth of the intellect.
C. The Lord says that He Himself is the Progenitor Kaamdeva.
1. He is the zenith of marital love.
2. He is the desire of union in married couples.
3. He is their desire for the blossoming of their love in the form of progeny.
D. He is Vaasuki amongst the sarpas or serpents.
1. The king of serpents, Vaasuki, who is adorned with a supreme, divine jewel, is the Lord Himself.
2. Vaasuki, the most venomous of all serpents, is the Lord Himself.
3. The Lord says Vaasuki, the king of serpents, is His own form.
