Inculcating New Skills for Spoken English

Arpana has recently introduced the ‘phonetic method’ of teaching English from primary to secondary classes, making changes from whole language reading programs to phonetics- based programs. Phonetics - sound of speech - is taught to dissect unfamiliar words into parts and then join the parts together to form words. The phonetic formulas are of greater help to the children with spelling than the memorization and guesswork of the whole language method. The teachers were also given training by Ms. Shari Daniels on “Phonetics” during December to practice the same with the students.
