Training – Learning for Earning
For young men and women
in the community to become economically self-sufficient,
Arpana has initiated vocational training courses.
This provides income generation opportunities.
A Pre-School Instructors
Training Programme enables graduates to get jobs
as assistant pre-school teachers. Training in
home crèche and pre-
school management enables women to set
up home pre-school crèches and day care
centres for children. Refresher workshops are
given throughout the year.
Catering and cooking
classes enable women to obtain jobs and start
their own businesses.
A librarian course has also been started.
Women are taught the use of sewing machines
and basic tailoring skills. This enables them
to generate income to support their families.
A crafts class for women has been organised
where volunteers train young women in fabricating
ornamental gift envelopes, paper bags, etc. for
sale. Gas welding, Electrical course,
Computer training.
