Action to Fight Gender Bias
The endeavor to empower women by nurturing the solidarity of sisterhood through women’s groups and federations by promoting savings and loans and by building their capacities for collective initiatives for health and good governance is now a decade old. The results are tangible, full of promise and bright with the self confidence and vigor of women who are discovering their ability to realize their dreams and achieve their goals. They are given trainings for their rights, which make them confident to fight against gender bias. They are winning the respect of menfolk at home and in the village arena, where once they were mocked and denigrated.

Trainings on dowry & female foeticide
1,843 women participated in 54 training sessions on women’s rights including dowry, domestic violence and female foeticide. Health workers performed 30 plays against dowry and female foeticide to audiences of 4,292 villagers.
A series of awareness generation drives educated the male population of deep rooted gender bias which affect attitudes resulting in female foeticide.
Rallies against female foeticide
4,395 women participated in 56 rallies against female foeticide, held in 28 villages. Posters and banners were made by the women and girls of the villages and slogans were devised. 3,190 women pledged not to take dowry in their homes.
